Although hacks are not something that we specialise in, we do offer hacks to riders we consider competent enough. For safety reasons you will need to prove yourself competent by booking a lesson prior to the hack (on another day) so that we can assess you. Hacks are of between one and three hours duration and we use a network of local bridleways which does involve some roadwork. These bridleways include those which go through the world famous Hickstead international showground and on longer hacks you can visit Wolstanbury and the south downs. We only ever hack out in small groups of riders of the same level of competence. Adults and children are not mixed and we only take children hacking out of the premises if they are aged 12 years and above, very competent and have done some riding and road safety training.

Waking Escort is basically a mini hack approx ½ hour around the field and tracks of Albourne Equestrian Centre. These are suitable for lead rein or novice adults and children who are not yet competent enough to go out hacking but would like to experience the freedom of riding outside of the confines of the sandschool.
Pony Pals are a perfect way of introducing very young children to horse-riding as a lesson can be a little too much for them. It is very often their first experience of contact or sitting on a pony so it is essential that it is a pleasurable experience. Very often young children do not want to ride for the full ½ hour allocated so if they prefer to they can lead the pony themselves, groom or simply just spend time stroking and patting the pony. It really doesn’t matter what they do, what is important is that they enjoy it.
